AFTER, MAR 2003 - Follow along to get the whole story

I bought my truck in July 2000 on a whim. The missus needed a new minivan (she was lucky - the Freightliner hit her Caravan right behind the driver's door. Bumped and bruised, she lived to tell it, but her van didn't). I can only look at minivan ads for so long before I wander into "cool" stuff. I spotted pictures of the AD trucks and decided that was going to be my new toy. Looked at a couple rough ones then spotted this beauty, a 1952 Chevy 3100 1/2 ton. The previous owner had used it as a daily driver in his carpenter trade until six months before when a new Chevy replaced it. This is my first day with it. Can't see the rust, can you????

Circa Summer 1994. This is how it looked before the PO gussied it up.

Late Summer 94. The PO had it painted real pretty - sharp truck! Earl didn't want to let it go; they wanted it parked out front permanently.

Sometime between 1994 and 2000 the PO had the black added as well as the gold accents. But the pictures are foolers. The clear coat on the red was peeling badly, so to improve these shots I hosed it down (caveat emptor - just like for an Ebay picture). That sheet of water did the trick. Unfortunately, the Earl Scheib job didn't stop or cure any rust. This "beauty" is only skin deep.
The tire carrier was homemade and did not require indenting the fender.
The bed had a liner and beneath that some HEAVY steel diamondplate. Grunt squared. Finding that plate explained why the rear squatted even with air shocks and overload springs.
